The Paycheck Fairness Act which would require employers to justify pay differences between men and women was shut down 52-47 in the senate. All republican senators voted down the bill, one claiming it was not fair to cite gender discrimination because women frequently leave the workplace to get married and have children, so that would account for some cases. What I don’t understand is how some individuals still vote strictly by party lines regards of blatant discrimination. Republican women especially should be speaking up against their party when they are the ones who will be paying the price. Will women continue to allow themselves to be marginalized?
