What would you do if you were the boss? It is easy to be negative towards a place, organization, government, or belief system without taking the moment to go “what would make a positive change.” Unless you directly work within the bureaucratic system, it is hard to grasp how difficult pushing change through can be. So here is your chance.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
1) Identify a problem: Preferably from a macro or systems level view. Some examples are: Domestic violence, Veteran issues, Child abuse, Welfare, NSA, fiscal cliff, and student loans.
2) Create a vision statement: What would an ideal system look like? Or how would a perfect world handle this problem? An example of a vision statement might be: “I envision a world where no child is left hungry, and has full, well balanced diets to meet their needs.”
3) How do we connect where we are, with your vision statement? No cop-outs now. You can’t list keep out CPS workers under child welfare issue. Imagine that you are now the point person to “fix” an issue. How do you do it? Be creative; involve legislative ideas, grassroots organizations, research, and shifts in thinking.
Comment with your ideas. And if you’re feeling really ambitious, submit us a write up for submission review. Bonus points for research and data to back up your point.
