When asked what I want to be,
A social worker is what I dream.
To help the world with Word,
Sometimes having to separate from the Herd.
Social Justice is not a crime,
But simply a state of mind.

Your poem made me mad, your mindset annoys me it is so deluded, take of your rose tinted glasses, as a victim/survivor of having my child ‘stolen’ then abused in care having committed no crime and a fit able Mother. The social worker committed perjury in court stating I was non cooperate the usual BS. What upset me most was your line ‘sometimes having to separate from the herd’ well I have news for you babies are wee human beings not sheep and anyway no vet or RSPCA officer would separate lamb from ewe so get real we are not sheep and deserve more respect than your profession gives, Mum’s love there children more than any social worker could otherwise you would be working for no pay or out in Africa feeding starving children not social engineering.
Katherine, I appreciate you taking the time to share your views and life experiences. It sounds like you are upset and frustrated based off your tone of voice and comment. The behaviors you engaged in such as name calling in the comment are inappropriate. I would love to continue to converse with you in a respectful and appropriate manner. “Ode to a Social Worker Part IV” focuses on the desire to help clients improve their quality of life through supportive services, and help shape a more positive social environment through policy and politics. The line, “Sometimes having to separate from the Herd,” focuses on the isolation and resistance individuals can experience when trying to support a new idea and/or course of action. I do agree with you that children are humans. I believe children’s rights tend not to be recognized in our society. I wish you all the hope and positivity as you continue your life journey.
