Happy Valentines Day! Today is a day focusing on love and affection. On sharing with and being there for others, and a day full of cuddling for many romantics. In this case, let’s cuddle with John Stamos, or more specifically let’s talk about Project Cuddle.
In our culture we tend to think of things in terms of polar opposites. For example, when it comes to unwanted pregnancies we debate the right to abortion for women. But what about those in the ‘grey’ areas? Where can women who want to have their child, but might not want to keep the child, turn? This is where Project Cuddle comes in:
“Project Cuddle is a non-profit organization that offers safe and legal alternatives to baby abandonment. We run a confidential toll-free 24-hour hotline for pregnant girls and women who find themselves scared and feel that they have no hope or that anyone can help them through this frightening time in their lives. Many are hiding their pregnancies, are near birth term, have no plans for their babies once born, and need prenatal care. They don’t want anyone to know their secret. Every pregnancy is kept confidential. We work with girls and women throughout the United States and Canada.”
Through their hotline, as well as their school educational programs, Project Cuddle offers a secure environment to educate and assist pregnant girls and women in crisis, or who might one day experience an unwanted pregnancy. It offers an oasis in a politically grey zone, and strives to save babies and children who might otherwise have been abandoned, abused or neglected. We need more projects to fill these grey zones in our society.
So, what does John Stamos have to do with this? Well, John Stamos is the National Spokesperson and Chairman of the Advisory Board of Project Cuddle and oddly I found out about this organization through the below video. It is well worth the view for a good chuckle, and maybe some pointers, but please note that some content is somewhat mature:

Does anyone else know of any other projects or not-for-profits assisting pregnant mothers in their area?
