One of our viewers submitted a link covering the Icelandic Parliament’s statement posted on www.transhumanity.net regarding Private First Class Bradley Manning. Private Manning, the US Army soldier who has been imprisoned without trial for his part in the wikileaks whistle- blowing. The Icelandic Parliament is issuing a request for Manning’s immediate release and compensation, along with a nomination for the Nobel Peace prize, stating:
“The documents made public by Wikileaks should never have been kept from public scrutiny. The revelations including video documentation of an incident in which American soldiers gunned down Reuters journalists in Iraq- have helped to fuel a worldwide discussion about America’s overseas engagements, civilian casualties of war, imperialistic manipulations, and rules of engagement.”
Private Manning has been imprisoned for over a year, and reportedly in solitary confinement for a least ten months, despite protests of multiple agencies worldwide. Iceland’s demand for his release or at the very least, fair trial is shared by many worldwide.
