May is Older Americans Month, and to celebrate this awareness month Kings Park Library is hosting three events for Older Americans.
On Monday, May 6th, 13th, and 20th, from 12:00-2:30pm, the Kings Park Library is hosting Game Days where space, tables, and chairs are provided by the library for friends and family to gather to play board or card games. Board and cards games must be brought by patrons. No registration is required!
On Wednesday, May 15th, from 2:00-3:30pm, the Kings Park Library is hosting Brain Fitness where Dale Weber, a community service representative of Home Instead Senior Care, will present tips, brain exercises, and games to help improve memory and boost brain power.
On Thursday, June 13th, from 7:00-8:30pm, the Kings Park Library is hosting Be a Road Scholar where Older Americans can learn, volunteer, and travel the world. Road Scholar (formerly know as Elderhostel) is a non-profit offering more than 6,50o programs in 150 countries and is affiliated with more than 340 universities, museums, and other cultural institutions. Frances LaDuca from Road Scholar has participated in the program and will provide a presentation about the program. Registration is required! There is a chance to win a raffle of $50 Road Scholar gift certificate.
