One’s Communication/Learning Style

by Victoria Brewster, MSW – SJS Staff Writer in Canada

I came across a great discussion on LinkedIn which focused on one’s learning style.

Do you know yours?

There are seven which focus on auditory, visual, kinesthetic, social, verbal, intrapersonal, and logical. http://www.altoconsulting.com.au/blog/the-7-styles-of-learning-which-works-for-you/ Take a look at this link for a further description.

It is important for everyone to know how they learn best, how they communicate best, how one expresses themself or takes in new information in the best way possible.

I am visual and learn best by being shown. I have always known this. I am also kinesthetic and verbal. Knowing this means I know what to look for when it comes to a professor, supervisor, friends and family; basically any interaction with another.

We all have times when we want to be in solitude to reflect, recharge or relax and we all have times when we want to be social and be with others.

Knowing one’s learning style is very important as it will tell both the individual and the professor or manager how best to interact with a student, employee or colleague.
