Can Women Tell If Men Are Cheaters From Just One Look?

An article today in Business Insider, Women Can Tell If Men Are Cheaters Just From One Look, based on a Dec. 4,  entry in the  journal Biology Letters suggests yes, in fact, women can accurately predict which men are likely to cheat with above average accuracy just by looking at them. “From the pictures alone, women were relatively accurate (they were wrong 38 percent of the time) at determining if a man had been unfaithful in the past. This unfaithfulness was linked to how masculine a man’s face was, but not to his attractiveness. Men weren’t able to accurately tell if the female photos were faces of cheaters, guessing wrong 77 percent of the time.” Interestingly, men rated women who they perceived as attractive and feminine as more likely to be unfaithful, while women rated more masculine appearing men, regardless of his perceived attractiveness,  as more likely. Aside from questions relating to the validity of the study, it does make for an interesting conversation. Is there a possible evolutionary base for women to be more accurately able to determine quickly and easily which men might have potential as a faithful mate?
