A recent report found that 1 in 10 Veterans lack a form of health insurance, in addition to almost a million family members. Although most Veterans are able to receive benefits, either from their military service, VA system of employment, these men and women fall through the cracks. In addition to medical and psychological needs, Veterans have a higher rate of unemployment which is also contributing to problems gaining insurance. The Affordable Health Care Act could help ease many who fall into this category, but cannot gain enough support.
