J. K. Rowling: Writer of Social Work Fiction?

Even without reading the Harry Potter series you know J.K. Rowling’s name as part of the pop culture frame work of our world. Recently, she has moved out of the world of children’s novels and released an adult novel titled The Casual Vacancy.

The book has an English social worker, working with a family who experiences such things as child protective claims, drug addiction, and poverty, as one of the main characters. With themes of politics, social welfare and  social justice laced into the novel social work is apparently portrayed in a realistic manner and some are claiming that this novel is one of the best social work novels ever written.

So, do you think you will read it? From a look at some of the reviews it seems to be an interesting piece of work which is for some too truthful and for others so honest it is perfect. Check out some of the Amazon Reviews to get an idea of your own.
