The Immune System Takes On Alzheimer’s

It is incumbent on social workers to stay up to date on scientific studies that relate to our practice. There has been a slew of breakthrough in our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease recently and we should be on the cutting edge. A new study now suggest that our immune system plays a role in removing the beta-amyloid that accumulates in the brain as a result of the disease. Of course this has only been proven in mice and has yet to be brought to human trials, but it is conceivable that Alzheimer’s will be treatable with preventative measures in the near future.
