Bank Robbery Doesn’t Pay As Much As You Think

I’m not sure if this has anything to do with social work, maybe you can relay these stats to a client who is a career criminal. A paper was done to measure the effectiveness of bank security and by default measured the success rate and haul of the bank robbers. The findings show that bank robbers might want to just go get a part time job. The average bank robber in the UK hauls about $18,000 in the UK and only $4000 in the U.S. They also reported that at least 1/3 of the ventures fail completely. This does not include money lost to time in prison. Clearly crime does not pay. At least back in the 1800’s you could ride a horse and wear a neat mask, today’s bank robbing profession just isn’t what it used to be.
