No More State Religion For Norway

Norway joins the majority of developed nations by eliminating their official national religion. This separation means that political offices(with exception of the King & Queen) will no longer have to be filled with members of the religion, and even church officials won’t have to belong to the church. What is most surprising is that the church backed the decision, even though it claims 4 out of 4.7 million of Norway’s population as members. The Evangelical Lutheran church will now be considered on the same level as all other religions in the country, a equalizing sentiment that the United States should consider even with our long history of “separation of church and state.”
